After the assisted implosion of Buckyballs, some of the band got back together to develop this tongue-in-cheek brand in response to the ongoing legal kerfuffle (and attendant legal bills). It was important to strike a balance between the genuine grievance driving the company’s existence with the genuine absurdity of the entire situation—to take wrapped in a flag patriotic language, inflate it to farcical heights, then kneecap it with a wink and a ball joke; to juxtapose weighty concepts of founding principles and rights with the utter inconsequentiality of magnetic desktoys. It’s even more absurd reflecting on this project through the lens of our current political reality.
